In honor of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, VN CARES invited Debbie Garrett from Every Woman Counts to present on the topic to a hundred UOP pharmacy students. Every Woman Counts is a non-profit organization that focuses on serving underserved women throughout California. Through the event, Ms. Garrett was able to share important knowledge about preventative measures, screening opportunities, and programs available under the organization. We would like to thank everybody who attended the speaker event as well as thank Ms. Garrett for educating and spreading awareness about cervical cancer!

On March 6th, 2016, VN CARES hosted our 9th Annual Pacific Family Health Fair in Stockton, CA from 10 AM to 3 PM. There were a variety of free health screenings that ranged from cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, body mass index to bone mineral density, anemia, asthma/COPD, mental health, etc. In addition to that, patients also had the opportunity to interact with local organizations and learn about the resources and servcies available to them in the area. We had over 300 people attend this health fair and were able to screen over 150 patients. Thank you to all the student volunteers, vendors, sponsors, pharmacists, and faculty for making the 9th PFHF a success! Also thank you to St. Luke Catholic Church for allowing us to host this even once again this year.

On Father's Day 2016, VN Cares hosted our annual Pacific Outreach Health Fair at Maria Goreth Church. We would also like to thank all the committees, volunteers, vendors, and pharmacists who came out to help make our health fair a success. With screenings in cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, BMD, memory decline, anemia, and audiology, we were able to screen 160 patients! As a student pharmacist committee whose aim is to promote health among the underserved communities, this health fair exceeded our expectations and we appreciate the efforts of everyone who collaborated with us.
